2019 Community Play Day at MacDonald Island happened on Oct. 19, 2019.

The event marked 10 years of partnership between the Regional Recreation Corporation (RRC) and Suncor Energy.

Thousands of visitors to the Suncor Community Leisure Centre (SCLC) enjoyed complimentary access to its many amenities and free activities.

RRC CEO Graig Walsh said he looks forward to another ten years with Suncor.

“Community Play Day and the announcement of the WB Kids All-Stars Program are prime examples of the impact that Suncor Energy has on the community and the commitment that they have to the quality of life within the region.”

Community Play Day also featured the debut of the WB Kids All-Stars Program.

Formerly WB Kids, this program provides financial assistance to kids who want to develop their skills and participate in activities.

The RRC and Suncor’s Community Foundation made possible the funding for this program.

Suncor’s Senior Vice President at Base Plant, Shelley Powell said they’re proud of its partnership with the RRC and the SCLC.

“We hope residents enjoyed Community Play Day, whether it was their first visit or they’ve been long-time members. It’s exciting to think of all the memories that will be made here over the next 10 years.”

Suncor Energy recognized its renewal of naming rights to the Suncor Community Leisure Centre, which they announced with the RRC in June of this year.
