Syncrude announced Mildred Lake produced its three billionth barrel of crude oil.
The oilsands giant claimed it’s the highest amount from a single source of oil production in Canadian history.
Managing Director, Doreen Cole, said Syncrude shares this milestone with its employees, past and present, over its 41-year history.
“What’s always been consistent, from 1978 through to today is how the more than 24,000 employees in that time have worked together to produce the oil Canadians need responsibly.”
Cole also thanked their partners, who brought economic and social prosperity to Wood Buffalo, Alberta, and Canada.
Among these partners are Indigenous communities, suppliers and contractors, and local agencies and institutions.
She said Syncrude benefited from such productive relationships.
“This historic milestone could not have been achieved without their support, and it’s an achievement we share with all of them.”
Syncrude added Mildred Lake produced their three billionth barrel in early October.
Premier Jason Kenney tweeted about the milestone at an event at the University of Alberta.
