The Wood Buffalo Food Bank Association (WBFB) needs your help.

They need volunteers for next week’s Syncrude Food Drive, which runs from Nov. 29 – Dec. 1, 2019.

Despite early successes with a few stores, WBFB communications manager Anna Noble says 40 per cent of the two-hour shifts still need to be covered.

“Some stores have no volunteers for the entire weekend, especially in [Gregoire]. We’re having issues getting people up there.”

The Food Bank aims to collect $300,000 in monetary donations and 80,000 pounds of food.

Noble said helpers would get a list of items, along with a truck for each station.

“Basically, the volunteers will be handing out the needs lists and the bags to customers, and then taking those donations and loading them into the trucks.”

She added hospitality vans will drop by the teams during their shift with warm beverages and treats.

Volunteers would drive donations back to the Food Bank at the end of each day for sorting.

Eager volunteers may sign up for one or multiple shifts through the weekend with the Wood Buffalo Volunteer Centre.
