A parking ticket may bring joy to a child in Wood Buffalo this holiday season,

Starting Dec. 1, the Toys for Tickets Program returns for its fourth year.

All donated toys will go to the Salvation Army’s Adopt-A-Family program.

Motorists with parking tickets issued between Dec. 1-15 may pay off their ticket with a toy.

However, the toys must be new, unopened, of equal or greater value than the parking fine amount, and come with the receipts.

Motorists must pay at the South Policing Facility at 150 MacLennan Crescent in Gregoire, Monday to Friday, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

If a toy’s value is lower than the price on the ticket, they may accept gift cards with the validation receipt to make up the difference.

Also, residents who don’t have parking tickets may participate and donate toys to the program.

The Salvation Army of Fort McMurray places the toys inside their holiday hampers and distributes them to local families in need.

Toys for Tickets ends on Dec. 20, 2019.
