Fort McMurray Airport Authority announced a new charter service with Caesars Rewards to Laughlin, Navada.

It is the first cross-border flight departing from Fort McMurray International Airport (YMM) in four years.

During the winter months, Sun Country Airlines will depart from YMM from Wednesday to Sunday and land at Laughlin International Airport which is close to Harrah’s Laughlin hotel and casino.

Michael Brown, Director of Marketing for Caesars said the guests will enjoy the scenic hotel.

“Harrah’s Laughlin is located on the banks of the Colorado River and boasts 1506 rooms with 182 suites. The property sits on over 1,100 feet of riverfront property nestled in a private cove with 700 feet of soft sand beach.”

Travel packages include the flight, airport shuttling in Laughlin, parking at YMM four nights at Harrah’s Laughlin and luggage handling.

Caesars invests aircraft assets into markets they believe have great potential to attract customers.

They also see the region’s geography and its residents’ high tendency to travel as an attractive place for charter services.

This new partnership excites Wood Buffalo Economic Development Corporation President and CEO, Kevin Weidlich.

“This is a tremendous milestone for the airport. New air service at YMM supports greater connectivity to and from Wood Buffalo, and enhances community liveability, all of which contribute to attracting new businesses, visitors and future residents.”

As the airport attracts and retains new air services like Caesars, the Airport Authority believes this would make our market more appealing to other carriers and entertainment groups.

Mayor Don Scott said this move would help further business interests and serve needs in the community.

“Access to destinations across Canada and the world have a positive impact on the quality of life in Wood Buffalo. It is incredibly important for the community to support our local airport and contribute to the sustainability of our award-winning community asset.”
