Locally owned and operated businesses are encouraging you to wait till their sales next week before shopping online this black Friday and cyber Monday.
Melanie Galea with Discovery Fort McMurray and Nathalie Jaindl, owner of Benjamin Moore and Absolute Serendipity have organized another iShop YMM Moonlight Madness event.
On , Dec. 6. 2019, 36 local businesses will be having a sale.
“It’s mom and pop shops, all locally owned and operated businesses being involved and were having a special sale from Dec. 6 from 9 a.m. till 9 p.m. at most locations,” said Galea.,
According to statistics, 63 cents from every dollar spent in the community, goes directly back into our economy.
“Its about shopping local and supporting local. So many of these people and business owners support our community whether it’s the Northern Light Health Foundation, the United Way, your local sports team, they can’t do that if you’re not shopping local.”
To further help shoppers Galea encourages people to post on social media about what they are buying to help spread the word.
“I’m hearing lots of stories where people are finding it locally, and for less money and for better quality than they found online.”
