(CORRECTION: An earlier version of the article listed ATCO as the contractor for this work, but it’s actually EMCON.)

Commuters along Highway 63 may no longer be kept in the dark.

Alberta Transportation announced they’re aware of difficulties for motorists, in particular at the Confederation Way interchange.

In a statement, a spokesperson said they noted lighting issues on Hwy. 63 through Fort McMurray, as well as in other areas of the roadway.

“Lighting repair work has been occurring in conjunction with [a] further investigation as some of the issues are greater in complexity and require additional resources.”

The ministry hired EMCON to investigate lighting at the interchange over the next two weeks.

Also, the contractor should look at the rest of the lights along Hwy. 63 during the month of December, determine the scope, and time frame to complete repairs.
