Fort McMurray Urban Market now year-round

IMAGE. Leadership of the Fort McMurray Urban Market has transitioned from the RMWB to Liam, who will hold bi-weekly, year-round markets at the old AMP building on Franklin Ave. starting with the first official Christmas Market on Dec. 14-15, 2019. The Fort McMurray Urban Market will have a new year-round feel.

The Municipality announced a transition of the Urban Market, handing over the reins to the local property developer, Liam.

The RMWB staged the community staple for seven successful summers.

At the end of each season, market-goers provide feedback for organizers to review and apply for the following year.

However, a pair of recurring feedback themes show residents desired a year-round market experience set indoors.

Transitioning the Fort McMurray Urban Market to Liam would address both needs as the Municipality announced bi-weekly markets at the old Alberta Motor Products (AMP) location on Franklin Avenue.

Year-round Urban Markets should support small, startup businesses and aid in downtown revitalization efforts.

The first bi-weekly Urban Market takes place Dec. 14-15, 2019, at the AMP building.

Market sponsors, Vargo Investments will help launch the first official Christmas Market.
