Wood Buffalo RCMP arrest 31-year-old wanted man

Wood Buffalo RCMP arrested a 31-year-old man wanted on numerous firearms-related charges.

Police arrested Jeffrey Derrick Hefferan of Fort McMurray, Alta., on Dec. 3, 2019.

Law enforcement

With assistance from the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT), RCMP located Hefferan and a 25-year-old woman at the Gregoire Lake Reserve.

They found the pair inside a stolen vehicle.

During the seizure, a search of the vehicle revealed suspected methamphetamine along with firearms, stolen property, and evidence of drug trafficking.

Police arrested Hefferan for outstanding warrants and charged him with 29 total different offences.

They include but aren’t limited to possession of a firearm without a license, careless use of a firearm, and possession of a firearm while prohibited.

He also faces charges of possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime, and possession of an instrument to forge credit cards.

His associate, 25-year-old Daphanie Carol Lee Kreutzer of Gregoire Lake Estates faces charges for 21 different offences.

They include but aren’t limited to possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime.

She also faces charges of unsafe storage of a firearm and possession of an instrument to forge credit cards.

Wood Buffalo RCMP remanded Hefferan into custody, but released Kreutzer on a no-cash recognizance with several conditions.

Both shall appear in Provincial Court in Fort McMurray on Dec. 16, 2019.
