Fort McMurray Realtors® notes busy November

The housing market in Fort McMurray was busy in November as the city prepared for the holidays.

Fort McMurray Realtors® reported the number of single-family homes sold jumped at least twenty-three per cent to 37 this year compared to 30 in 2018.

There is also an increase of at least four per cent in current listings with new listings down by about the same amount.

Realtors® added there is a reduction by more than eight per cent in the average selling price to $527,186 compared to 2018’s price of $573,625.

Busy month

Fort McMurray Realtors® noted business in the market as festive preparations got underway.

Overall, the number of properties sold fell slightly compared to October 2019, which is normal.

The total sales for the year decreased by just over two per cent.

Realtors® said they found the largest changes from last year’s figures in townhouses, apartment condo, and mobile with land sales.

Compared to November 2018, townhomes sales this year were up more than 85 per cent with a 25 per cent rise in new listings.

Sales for apartment condos and mobiles with land doubled in comparison as well.

Average sale prices fell by just over 25 per cent to $137,583, and climbed at least 11 per cent to $232,243, respectively.

However, new listings for condos fell by around 48 per cent with an almost 16 per cent drop in active listings.

Duplex sales were the same as last year at just five in November 2019.

There were ten new listings, which is one less than last year, and more than 20 per cent fewer active listings.

The average sale price also fell by just over 15 per cent from $350,000 to $297,400.
