Police target suspected drug dealers

A series of investigations by RCMP led to the arrests of several suspected drug dealers in our region.

The Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT) in Fort McMurray announced they arrested eight suspected dealers over a four-day period.

Beginning in late October 2019, ALERT and Wood Buffalo RCMP launched a series of short-term investigations to combat street-level dealers.

Along with the arrests, police seized at least $4,500 worth of drugs and cash, including methamphetamine, cocaine and fentanyl.

“Undertaking this type of operation alongside our law enforcement partners demonstrates ALERT’s commitment to keeping the community of Fort McMurray safe.” Said Inspector Sean Boser, ALERT Regional Teams.

RCMP arrested eight people, who face a total of 17 drug-related charges.

They are 29-year-old Shelly Richards, 24-year-olds Kylar Flett and Dakota Donald, 27-year-olds Cody Decoine and Shandon Simpson-Whiteknife, 21-year-old Chas Marcel, 35-year-old Danielle Wilson, and 37-year-old Jennifer Lacorde.

ALERT also issued an arrest warrant for 55-year-old Kenneth Chapdelaine on one count of drug trafficking.
