Wood Buffalo RCMP has reported that the number of people charged with impaired driving decreased in 2019.

Over the past two years the Integrated Traffic Unit, Municipal Traffic and General Duty officers have taken 695 impaired drivers off our region’s roads.

In 2019, there were 329 charges laid, compared to 366 in 2018 – a decrease of 10 per cent.

While RCMP hasn’t confirmed the influence of mandatory breath testing, Bill C-46 was implemented in Canada in December 2018.
