United Way of Fort McMurray and Wood Buffalo raised $4.65-million through the 2019 Community Campaign.

Campaign chair, Ken Sandmoen thanked everyone for their generosity in supporting individuals and families in need.

“Your donations are integral to solving unignorable issues in Wood Buffalo, and $4.65 million will go a long way in addressing these issues.”

The 40th edition of the annual Community Campaign ran from September to the end of December.

Also, United Way noted an increase in the funds raised, which is a first since 2014.

“We have an exceptionally giving community which has allowed United Way, in conjunction with our partners, to strengthen the social infrastructure of Wood Buffalo for 40 years.”

Sandmoen added donations of money, gifts, time, and energy from individuals, families, and businesses support local areas.

Board President, Steve Yatauro said it takes a team effort.

“This result exemplifies the tremendous support our community provides towards meeting our social profit areas of greatest need. It takes a real team effort to deliver this result in the face of continuing challenges in our regional fundraising space.”

In total, Wood Buffalo invested over $100-million into the United Way to aid the most vulnerable in our region.
