Syncrude has reported the death of a contract worker at its Aurora site.
Syncrude emergency crews responded to reports of an incident on Jan. 19 around 9:30 p.m.
Senior Vice President, Production, Steve Yatauro said in a statement that thoughts are with the family and friends.
“This is devastating news for all of us at Syncrude. The safety and well-being of our employees and contractors is always our top concern,”
While the oil-giant is working with the RCMP and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety, it has also started it’s own investigation to find out what happened.
No other workers were injured in the incident.
