Alberta Health Services lifted the “Do Not Consume Water” Advisory for the community of Janvier.

Officials confirmed water quality in the distribution system is safe for all homes and residences in the hamlet, including the Chipewyan Prairie First Nation.

Residents may also resume use of tap water for the following:

  • Cooking
  • Drinking
  • Feeding pets
  • Food preparation, including washing fruits and vegetables
  • Gargling or brushing teeth or dentures
  • Making ice cubes, soups, juices, or other mixes
  • Preparing baby food or infant formula

More information on the lifting of the advisory is available on the AHS website.

AHS issued the advisory on Jan. 24, 2020, when officials reported a mixture of chemicals at the Janvier Water Treatment Plant.

Mayor Don Scott announced earlier that the Municipality would conduct a full investigation once AHS deemed water quality was safe.
