Mr. Pretzels and The Chopped Leaf will be calling MacDonald Island home offering more food options for the leisure centre.
Graig Walsh, CEO of the Regional Recreation Corporation, said after going through a public process for proposals for the spaces these vendors scored the highest in their evaluation.
“We do think, they are the perfect fit for our type of operation. The Chopped Leaf offers a really solid mix of healthy food alternatives, which I think for the Suncor Community Leisure Centre will be a nice addition and a nice compliment to the other food locations that we have,” said Walsh. “Mr. Pretzels is really well known, it’s a sort of faster snack food location which I think will be good for our ice arenas and people that come through our facility.”
Mr. Pretzels will be located next to The Second Cup and The Chopped Leaf is taking over the Mi Café location near guest services.
“The one biggest thing at MacDonald Island is we have people that can come and spend the entire day here so we wanted to really make sure we had lots of options and choices from them to choose from.”
Both locations will be opening this spring.
