Suspected drug dealers arrested in Fort McMurray

Investigations by police at the start of the new year led to several arrests in Fort McMurray.

The Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT) announced they arrested 16 suspected drug dealers.

Police also issued warrants for several more as investigations in January and February 2020 targeted street-level traffickers.

With assistance from Wood Buffalo RCMP, police seized more than $18,000 worth of drugs, cash, and stolen property.

“Working together with our law enforcement partners to address drug trafficking and property crime at the street level is an integral part of keeping the communities we serve safe.” Said ALERT Inspector Sean Boser.

Police seized 52 grams of cocaine, three grams of methamphetamine, one gram of fentanyl powder, $6,220 in cash proceeds of crime, and another $6,000 worth of stolen property.

ALERT arrested 16 people in Fort McMurray and surrounding communities and charged them with a total of 41 offences related to drugs, weapons, and proceeds of crime.

Investigators issued an arrest warrant for Androw Yousif, a 24-year-old man from Fort McMurray.

They also issued warrants for five other male residents.
