A group of real estate agents is showing their support for the Wood Buffalo Food Bank (WBFB).

The A-Team at RE/MAX®️ Fort McMurray scheduled a series of daily activities and information sessions using its social media platforms.

Tom Albrecht, Associate for The A-Team, said ‘The Game Plan’ will reach residents working from their homes due to COVID-19, and raise awareness for the food bank.

“We have some experience with things like working from home, and staying motivated under pressure [and] we might get a little bored ourselves over the coming days or weeks. So we thought, ‘Is there a way we can share our knowledge and try to help the food bank out a bit?’”

Drawing from the experience with the 2016 wildfire, Albrecht said the community must stay united during such a difficult time.

Interested residents who self-isolate or work from home may participate in ‘The Game Plan’ from the comfort of their homes.

They can also join the conversation on social media with #stayhomechallenge and #caremongering.

The WBFB cancelled the Servus Spring Food Drive due to COVID-19 concerns.

Dan Edwards, WBFB Executive Director, said they will work to meet the needs of the community despite the loss.

“With the postponement of our second largest [food-raiser] of the year and the anticipated increase in need as we move forward, keeping donations coming in is extremely important. Food and monetary donations are greatly appreciated, and our current needs list is shared daily on social media.”

Edwards added he is confident Wood Buffalo can get through the coronavirus pandemic.

Access live sessions on the A-Team at RE/MAX®️ Fort McMurray’s Facebook and Instagram starting at 12:30 p.m.

Residents may donate to the Wood Buffalo Food Bank on their website.
