Annette Antoniak has resigned as Chief Administrative Officer of the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo.

RMWB Council accepted her resignation on March 18, 2020.

“We’re particularly grateful for the service that Annette Antoniak has provided to the region.” Said Mayor Don Scott. “We received her resignation, and she indicated it was for family reasons.”

In her letter, Antoniak has family living in Penticton, B.C.

Antoniak served as interim CAO in November 2016, before the RMWB officially appointed her to the role on November 2017.

Upon her resignation, RMWB Council called an immediate meeting and appointed Deputy CAO Jamie Doyle as interim CAO.

Mayor Don Scott said Doyle will maintain Wood Buffalo’s forward momentum.

“Mr Doyle is a proven municipal leader, and as a Council we have the utmost confidence in his leadership and the Senior Leadership Team he has around him. We have a strong staff and the resources necessary and are well positioned to keep moving our region forward and providing the services our residents need.”

Doyle served as Deputy CAO since 2018, and prior to that as Director and Manager for Planning and Development.

Speaking on the local response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Mayor Scott expressed confidence in its leadership.

“I believe we are in a strong position with our Director of Emergency Management, Scott Davis, leading us through this global pandemic. Mr Davis has been involved with pandemic response planning, and has 18 years of experience with Emergency Management.”

The Municipality transitioned to an essential services approach to align with provincial COVID-19 preparations.
