The Fort McMurray SPCA is in need of donations for its pet food bank.

The food bank, which was created in 2016, supports residents in the region who may face challenges in providing food for their pets.

If you’re able to make a donation, the FMSPCA is in need of dog and cat food, along with basic pet supplies like cat litter.

Last year over 1100 cats, dogs and their families were supported by the pet food bank.

The FMSPCA said so far this year it’s already seeing an increase in requests for pet food and supplies.

Operations Manager, Selena MacIsaac said she hopes the community can help fill their needs as soon as possible.

“In order to facilitate us being able to support animals in need across the region as things evolve with the outbreak we have made drop off of donations for our pet food bank available at our shelter location 7 days a week from 8am to 6pm,”

While public programming has been suspended due to the spread of COVID-19, the FMSPCA is still providing essential services like in-shelter animal care, pet adoption by appointment and the Animal Safe Haven program for pets of residents fleeing domestic violence.

To make a donation simply place it in the box of the main door of the shelter which is located on MacAlpine Cres. or call 780-743-8997 to book an appointment.

You can make a monetary donation online.
