Local Yoga and Fitness Studio offering free classes

Last Updated Mar 19, 2020 at 10:21 am MDT

Oranj Fitness is offering free online yoga and fitness classes via Facebook Live after they closed all six of their studios due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

The studios that are hosting the classes are here in Fort McMurray, Calgary, Grande Prairie, Airdrie, Kelowna, Castelgar and Penticton.

“When we decided to do the closure, we recognized that we really wanted to continue to support the community,” said Robyn Muir, studio manger of Oranj Fitness Fort McMurray.

Starting on March 17, 2020 the company began live streaming their classes, alternating between the studios.

Muir said it was important to Oranj to connect with their guests.

“That is what were here for, and our instructors want to be there for them.”

The yoga classes are one hour, and the fitness classes are 45 minutes and stay on the studios Facebook page for 24 hours after the live stream.

“With our Fort McMurray studio, we have yoga classes on Mondays at 9:30 a.m. and on Wednesdays we have fitness classes at 6:30 p.m. and on Saturdays we have another fitness class at 12:30 p.m.”

About 80-90 people have been tuning into the classes.

“It’s minimum equipment, a lot of body weight… there will be a lot of modifications provided through the classes, there is not a lot that people need, and the instructor will outline that before we start the class.”

To tune in, go to the studios Facebook page.

Oxygen Yoga will also be hosting live classes through Facebook.
