While the wildfire danger in the Fort McMurray Forest Area is low, there have been two wildfires recorded.

One of the fires has been put out, while the other is listed as under control.

According to Alberta Wildfire over the past five years human-caused fires accounted for 30 per cent of starts and 70 per cent of hectares burned in the Fort McMurray area.

It noted that those fires have been 100 per cent preventable.

You’re reminded to put out your fire as a fire left smouldering can burn underground.

You should go back and check your winter burns to ensure they are extinguished.
