OTTAWA (660 NEWS) – The House of Commons is returning Tuesday in an attempt to quickly approve emergency financial aid through the COVID-19 pandemic.

This news comes as Prime Minister Justin Trudeau updated the country Sunday on the federal efforts to contain the spread of Coronavirus and deal with the effects it is having on society and the economy.

The prime minister says after consultations with the opposition, all parties have agreed to quickly pass his government’s $82-Billion financial aid package

The federal government also indicated it is looking at only calling in a couple of dozen MPs for a quorum, and opposition parties have agreed to put partisanship aside and give speedy approval.

Trudeau is also once again urging Canadians to stay in their homes and self-isolate, especially since pictures are being shared on social media of crowded playgrounds and even beaches in some parts of Canada.

The number of Canadians infected with COVID-19 has climbed to more than 1400.
