Local businesses open, offering delivery

Premier Jason Kenney announced more closures and limitations to public gatherings in the province on March 27.

Social gatherings have now been decreased to 15 people. This includes any family gathering, including funerals.

A list of cancelled events and closed businesses in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo is available here. 

Many local businesses are still open under the new government rules and Alberta Health Services guidelines:

  • Burger King drive thru and Skip the Dishes delivery continues to stay open for our community.
  • Pizza Hut reminds us that we are all in this together. Listen to the public health authorities and we will get through this.
  • Paddy McSwiggins is offering deliver and take out, weekdays 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Stacs Find Food is open for delivery and pick up from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Bulldog Delivery is offering a fast and convenient service straight to your door, including but not limited to groceries, convenience stores and take out
  • The Canadian Brewhouse is open for Skip the Dishes delivery and curbside takeout.
  • Kathy’s Fiber Arts & Crafts is open for delivery and pickup through it’s website
  • 57 North is offering grocery, alcohol and meal prep services through it’s website
  • “D” Laundromat is open on reduced hours, offering pickup & delivery, two people allowed in at once

 

Alberta’s chief medical officer says it’s fine to order food from a delivery service.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw was responding to concerns being raised that COVID-19 could be transferred on the packaging.

Hinshaw said extra precautions can be taken to ensure people are safe.

That includes putting the food in your own dishes, disposing of the packaging and washing your hands thoroughly before you eat.
