Northland Forest Products and the Wood Buffalo Food Bank (WBFB) have teamed up for their first ever Virtual Food Drive.

The decision to run a virtual food drive came after the WBFB announced it would have to postpone its Servus Spring Food Drive, which was scheduled for the first weekend in April.

The month-long fundraiser kicks off on April 1, with a $25,000 donation from Northland Forest Products.

Craig and Howie Ewashko, owners of Northland want to encourage others to donate any amount they can during this time of increased need.

“At challenging times such as these, food security should be something everyone’s friends and family members can count on,”

Dan Edwards, Executive Director of the WBFB said the decision couldn’t have come at a better time.

“Not only are we in a situation when we typically rely on that boost of donations to get us through to summer, but we are also anticipating an increase in need as layoffs are occurring and people are preparing to stay home. We are excited to host a Virtual Food Drive as it’s something we haven’t tried and is more accessible during this time.”

The food drive will run through the WBFB’s website and social media account until the end of April.
