Pride YMM will be postponing this years Pride celebrations, but they will still be celebrating during pride month.

There will be a virtual online ceremony to give away the Pride Leadership awards to recognize the people doing amazing work in our region.

“So many in this community are champions for the LGBTQ2+ community, so we wanted to make sure we are recognizing those people that are really putting in a lot of work to really contribute to the benefit of LGBTQ2+ lives,” said Pride YMM Chair Mitchel Bowers.

Nominations can be done via the Pride YMM Facebook page for leaders, advocates or allies for the LGBTQ2+ community.

“We have a professional award, which in the past has gone to a doctor, but it could also go to a teacher or anybody who is in some sort of a professional field, we always have our business ally award, our non-profit ally award, activist award and that is just a few of them.”

Nominations close on Friday, May 15.

Pride YMM is also offering support to the most vulnerable in our local LGBTQ2+ community who may be in unsupportive households.

There are free virtual GSA Meetings for youth as well as a Transgender support group for all-ages.

They are also posting creative, inspiring content on their Facebook page to stay connected to the community.
