While no new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the RMWB, the province reports 49 more cases bringing the total to 1500.

There are still two active cases in the region.

The province is also reporting seven more deaths, the largest amount reported in a single day, bringing the death toll to 39.

In total 713 people have recovered from the virus in Alberta.

There have been 70,080 tests completed in the province, eight per cent or 5,883 are from the North Zone.

Following the new numbers, the Alberta government is taking new steps to help prevent the spread of the virus.

Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Deena Hinshaw says new rules are being implemented at continuing care facilities. This means all workers must be required to wear face masks when working around residents, even if they are not showing any symptoms.

“In addition to new masking requirements, we are requiring all workers in continuing care facilities to work at only one site.”

“This will help prevent the spread of illness between facilities. These requirements are currently in effect at outbreak locations but will now be required in all long-term care and supportive living sites across the province,” she added.
