Mayor Don Scott is recovering at home following a motor vehicle accident on April 12.
He confirmed the incident in a statement posted on social media.
First responders attended the scene and transported him to the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre for evaluation and observation.
Preliminary investigation by police showed that a pick up truck, travelling northbound on Signal Rd. was in the left hand turn lane. An SUV travelling westbound on Thickwood Blvd. failed to stop at the red light when the collision occurred.
Police added a medical issue may have contributed to the collision, but the investigation continues.
Scott said he thanks residents and emergency personnel for their assistance.
“I would like to express my deepest gratitude to our incredible first responders with Regional Emergency Services and the doctors, nurses and staff at Northern Lights Regional Health Centre for their compassion and professional care following the incident. I would also like to thank the good Samaritans that stayed with me until such time as our first responders could arrive.”
Residents wrote well-wishes and messages of support on his Facebook page.
Following the accident, Mayor Scott said he spoke with another person involved in the accident.
