Spring washout impacted travel between Wood Buffalo and Edmonton along Highway 63.

The province reported spring runoff washed out a portion of Hwy. 28 near the town of Redwater.

511 Alberta said damage resulted in the closure of the route between Hwy. 38 and Hwy. 63 for repairs.

Replacing the two damaged culverts may take three to five days.

Wayne Wood, the Communications advisor for the Ministry of Transportation, said officials will detour traffic along Highways 38, 644, and 829 through Redwater.

That portion expects, on average, 5000 vehicles per day.
