RMWB says River Breakup imminent

The Municipality said this year’s River Breakup is approaching.

Ice along the Athabasca River in Fort McMurray is likely to break soon.

There is a high risk of flash flooding as a result.

The RMWB advises residents in the Lower Townsite, Waterways, and Draper to go to the Municipality’s website for updates and prepare a 72-hour emergency kit.

It also advises residents to stay away from shorelines and river banks.
