The Municipality held a live Q & A on Facebook Tuesday.

Residents were able to ask questions to Mayor Don Scott, CAO Jamie Doyle and Deputy CAO Matthew Hough.

During the Q & A, residents asked questions about water quality, the hospital and recovery, among other things.

The municipality said 6,000 evacuees have registered, while 12,936 people have evacuated.

While many were concerned about the sandbagging being done at the hospital, Deputy CAO Matthew Hough said the municipality keeps a stockpile of 8,000 sandbags – 12,200 have been used across the municipality.

The hospital remains fully operational and long term care residents are being moved in phases.

According to Mayor Don Scott, there is movement and discolouration of the ice causing the jam, which is a good sign, but that the use of explosives is not an option at this time.

He added that he hopes to get people home and businesses open as soon as possible.

The municipality has also worked with the Salvation Army to relocate and take care of the homeless population in our community.

As for the boil water advisory, Hough said it will remain in place as long as necessary and to continue boiling water for one minute.

The municipality has ensured hotels will be secured for another seven days as the municipality works on a plan for recovery and re-entry.
