Canadian Natural Resources Ltd. (CNRL) confirms a link with a worker that tested positive for COVID-19.

Julie Woo with CNRL Public Affairs said on April 26, Alberta Health Services (AHS) notified them that the individual tested positive for the virus.

“Alberta Health Services has investigated this case and has determined that the individual was not considered to be infectious while they were on shift at our work site.”

In a photo of an April 27th document obtained by MyMcMurray, CNRL notified employees, contractors, and service providers.

The notice stated the person previously worked for the camp service provider at the Albian site.

It also stated AHS tested the worker off-site on April 24, four days after they left the worksite.

“We recognize the impact this will have on the individual, their family, and their co-workers. Please be assured that the person is receiving the support they need from their employer during this time.”

CNRL said they continue to follow guidance from AHS such as screening, physical distancing, and good hygiene.

The company said they direct any workers at Albian who may feel unwell to the Medical Centre on site.

“Canadian Natural has in place significant precautionary measures to limit the spread of COVID-19,” Said Julie Woo, “and [astringent] response protocol that follows the guidance of public health officials at AHS when staff are showing symptoms of illness.”

CNRL’s head office location is in Calgary, Alta.
