FMCSD reaches out to families

The Fort McMurray Catholic School Division (FMCSD) issued a statement to students and families.

As the flood response continues, the FMCSD outlined its next steps going forward.

Off-site instruction reconvenes on May 6, with Father Turcotte School the lone exception.

FMCSD suspended classes earlier this week due to the flooding.

The RMWB will in the process of conducting a damage assessment as flooding impacted the property.

Superintendent George McGuigan said the FMCSD postponed instruction at Father Turcotte until further notice.

“Given the current situation in our community, we trust this is a relief to many. We continue to support our families to the best of our ability. We know many families have extenuating circumstances. Please reach out to your teacher and your school. We are here for you every step of the way.”

The Alberta Ministry of Education confirmed off-site learning shall remain for the duration of the school year.

McGuigan asked families to support children and grandchildren with off-site learning and reading.
