Street sweeping underway, no ticketing this year to assist in flood recovery

Street sweeping and cleaning has started in flood affected areas.

This year, the street sweeping process will be done without tickets to assist in flood recovery and due to COVID-19.

You’re asked to keep the street in front of your home or business clear to help in the cleaning process.

Sweeping is happening in locations that are accessible for crews and equipment.

Cleaning in these areas is needed to support the flushing of storm sewers, and minimizing the risk of flooding during rainfall.

The regular street sweeping program will begin on May 11 on Primary and Secondary routes in the following neighbourhoods:

  • Prairie Creek
  • Beacon Hill
  • Abasand/Grayling Terrace
  • Thickwood
  • Dickinsfield
  • Wood Buffalo
  • Timberlea

The neighbourhoods are listed in sequential order of the street sweeping schedule.

Sweeping is dependent on weather, accessibility and operational capacity.

Crews will continue to do street sweeping until the fall.

Electronic message boards will be placed in areas not affected by the flood and no parking signs will be placed 48 hours in advance.

Respecting the no parking signs will allow crews to sweep the entire street.
