Keyano Huskies to host 2021 ACAC Futsal Championships

The Keyano College Huskies will host the 2021 Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Men’s & Women’s Futsal Championships.

The event will bring in six of the province’s best collegiate men’s and women’s teams from March 12-14, subject to COVID-19 and provincial government measures.

“Huskies Athletics is excited to be named host of the 2021 ACAC Futsal Championships as it will bring many student athletes from other colleges in the ACAC to our campus and community. This event will not only positively impact sport in our region but showcase our community and facilities,” said Director of Athletics, Jonathan Lambert.

The Huskies have found great success in the sport since the ACAC adopted futsal as an official sport offering in the 2011/12 season.

The Huskies Men’s team has won seven gold, one silver, and one bronze in the nine ACAC Championships that have been hosted. The Huskies Women’s team has won one silver, three bronze, and placed fourth twice.

“This event is a great opportunity to showcase Futsal at the collegiate level and to our region. We look forward to competing as host and have a strong support from the community as we look to win the Championships,” said Huskies Head Coach Macky Singh.

The event will take place at the Syncrude Sports and Wellness Centre.
