Students of the Fort McMurray Public School Division (FMPSD) can upgrade or work ahead in July through summer school.
All classes will be held online from July 3 to 28, with the exception of major assessments like tests, exams and essays, which will be held at École McTavish.
Diploma exams will be held from Aug. 4 to 13 for all 30 level courses.
Daniel Baseley, who will return as Summer School Principal and who is the current Vice Principal of Fort McMurray Christian School, said FMPSD expects more registrants this year.
“Although this year’s Summer School will look different from previous editions, the present circumstances add even greater importance to our classes.”
Last year the program saw 380 students and this year they project over 400 students will take advantage of the opportunity to work ahead or upgrade.
Summer School Vice Principal and Vice Principal of Fort McMurray Islamic School David Hurley said all interested students should register.
“We hope to have a high number of students register again this year, but students must be highly motivated, disciplined and independent, especially with instruction being online this year. We look forward to welcoming new and returning students, and we want to assure everyone that our students’ safety and learning are of our utmost concern!”
Due to classes being condensed, students can only take one course.
Online classes will run weekdays from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with a 30 minute lunch break.
