Despite 2020’s many challenges, Mayor Don Scott encourages residents to safely celebrate Canada Day.

As July 1 nears, citizens and groups across Wood Buffalo plan to recognize Canada Day in creative ways while following public health restrictions.

The RMWB’s Canada Day Community Committee unveiled a web page to host local virtual events.

One event the RMWB and the Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo (RRC) recognizes is the Multicultural Association’s (MCA) Canada Day Song Book.

Mayor Don Scott said it’s an important time for Wood Buffalo to celebrate despite what calls a challenging year.

“Canada Day is a time to reflect on what it means to be Canadian and to call our region home and offers an opportunity to think about how we can listen and learn from each other’s experiences to inspire positive change.”

Mayor Scott said he encourages everyone to celebrate Canada Day safely, and renew their commitment to taking care of each other.

Canadians of all ages may submit videos for the virtual Canada Day Song Book through the MCA website.
