The Wood Buffalo Regional Library (WBRL) plans to re-open in a phased approach as Alberta enters Stage 2 of the economic relaunch.

Dawn Sidoroff, Manager of Marketing and Fund Development for the WBRL, thanked patrons for their support during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Thank you for your ongoing support and understanding during this unprecedented time. We miss all of our patrons. We understand everyone is eager to return to the library and are curious as to when WBRL will resume physical operations.”

The WBRL provided online programs, ebooks, and other online resources to residents during the shutdown.

Alberta said libraries would re-open with restrictions in Stage 2, which health officials first scheduled for June 19.

Sidoroff said health and safety of staff and patrons is important to the WBRL.

“WBRL is working actively within public health guidelines in planning a phased approach to gradually restoring library services.  We are excited to share that we are currently working on launching a ‘Contactless pickup service’.”

She added more details and updates will be available on the library’s social media pages and its website.

“Our patrons play an important role in making the library what it is. On behalf of the entire library, we miss you and hope you’ll continue this journey with us to a new normal.”

The WBRL is on MacDonald Island.
