Ebus and Red Arrow announced buses will be back on Alberta roads, including service between Fort McMurray and Edmonton.

The bus lines suspended service on March 30.

Matthew Cox, Vice President of parent company Motorcoach, said it’s proud of the work they did during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“From suspending our operations early enough to make a difference in protecting our staff, passengers, and the communities in which we operate, to engaging our passengers for feedback in our relaunch planning, to developing new processes and procedures to ensure safe travel conditions for everyone.”

One of the new procedures in place with Ebus and Red Arrow is their Safety Clean program.

Safety Clean

Ebus and Red Arrow will follow guidance from public health and government authorities.

  • All passengers must wear face masks, which will be available for purchase.
  • Ebus and Red Arrow will apply physical distancing rules in all offices, during check-in, embarking, onboard, and disembarking.
  • Staff will use enhanced cleaning and sanitization protocols and products like electrostatic sprayers on high traffic or frequently touched surfaces.
  • They added these sprayers wrap around and evenly coat various surfaces with appropriate amounts of sanitizers and disinfectants.

Motorcoach Director, John Stepovy said the halt allowed them to rethink and retool its service to provide a healthy, safe, and responsible relaunch.

“During that time, we’ve been in close contact with Health and Governmental Authorities, we’ve been monitoring the conditions, and we believe that a return to service on June 11th aligns with the systematic re-opening of businesses and relaxed conditions across the province.”

Ebus will offer its passengers ‘Flex Fares’, which permit one change with their bus fare.

Red Arrow will continue its change and cancellation policy, which is a 30-minute notice in the morning and three-hour notice for afternoons.

Ebus will serve Calgary, Red Deer, and Edmonton four days per week.

Fort McMurray to Edmonton Ebus service will operate six days per week, or three days southbound and three days northbound.

Service from Calgary and Lethbridge on Red Arrow will run four times a week.

All other routes with Red Arrow will resume at a later date.

Ticket information for Fort McMurray to Edmonton is available on the Ebus website.
