McDonald’s Canada has opened its doors following a deep cleaning and sanitizing.

The restaurant chain said an employee confirmed to them they tested positive for COVID-19 the night of June 9, 2020.

“Out of an abundance of caution, McDonald’s Canada made the decision to immediately shut down the restaurant for a thorough cleaning and sanitation by a certified third party.”

It also asked its staff, in particular co-workers and close contacts of the employee, to self-quarantine.

The employee last worked at the Franklin Ave location on June 8, 2020, between 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.

McDonald’s Canada recommends all guests who visited the restaurant that day take directions from Alberta Health Services (AHS).

The restaurant added it will continue working with AHS to support its staff and guests.

“We are working to ensure our timeline to reopen happens as quickly and safely as possible, as we know our guests depend on their local McDonald’s and we are committed to doing our part to help our communities.”
