Wood Buffalo You Can Ride 2 loans out over 100 adapted bicycles

More than over 100 adapted bicycles have been loaned to children with special needs in the region.

The bikes are loaned out through the You Can Ride 2 program, which allows all children to ride.

The program provides adapted bikes to children who many not be physically capable of riding a typical bike.

Launched three years ago, the program has distributed over 250 bikes.

Assistant Superintendent – Inclusive Education with Fort McMurray Public School Division, Shannon Noble said that the program has always been a priority.

“This initiative is truly grounded in the well-being of our community’s children and we are delighted to see it sustained,”

Fort McMurray Catholic Schools Deputy Superintendent Monica Mankowski said she’s proud of the growth of the program in our region.

Students are assessed by a trained physiotherapist or occupational therapist to ensure they have a bike that will suit their needs.
