Shandro said Bill 24, or the COVID-19 Pandemic Response Statutes Amendment Act, will bring new measures to support a safe reopening.

“Bill 24 allows us to continue to effectively respond to the COVID-19 pandemic to protect public health and ensure Albertans have access to the services and support they need as Alberta moves forward with reopening our economy.”

He said the bill seeks to extend existing measures relating to COVID-19.

These include extending the maximum time for temporary layoffs from 120 days to 180 days, and unpaid leave for employees to care for children or sick family.

Full details about Bill 24 are available on the province’s website.
