Alberta notes pause in COVID-19 cases in Wood Buffalo

The province announced no new cases of COVID-19 in Wood Buffalo.

This is the first report without a new case of the illness in the region in seven days.

There are 10 active cases each in Fort McMurray, and outside the urban service area.

25 residents from the region recovered from the virus.

Dr Deena Hinshaw, chief medical officer of health made reference to a perceived increase in active cases.

Hinshaw explained the province can trace most cases of COVID-19.

She added there is no link between outdoor activities and no known outbreaks or significant transmission.

Alberta reported 46 new cases of COVID-19 and no additional deaths in the last 24 hours.

The province has 512 active cases, 152 deaths, and 6961 recovered cases.

To date, health officials tested 332,766 Albertans.
