If you’re disposing of large debris, you’re asked to separate it into three piles.
Appliances and scrap metal like fridges, freezers, stoves, and small appliances in one pile.
You’re reminded to contact your insurance provider before throwing away your fridge or freezer.
The second pile is for household hazardous waste like paint, cleaners, batteries, propane tanks and other similar products.
The third pile is for furnishings and other waste like furniture, flooring, drywall and vegetative debris.
Ammunition and explosives can be disposed of safely by contacting Wood Buffalo RCMP at 780-788-4040.
Tires, asphalt, concrete, soil, mature trees, blown-in or loose insulation can all be taken to the landfill, while asbestos must be disposed of in an approved landfill, which Fort McMurray is not.
