Alberta Wildfire set the wildfire danger rating in Fort Chipewyan to Very High.

Crews are holding a 28-hectare wildfire about 38 kilometres north of the hamlet.

Alberta Wildfire warned about brisk northerly winds and isolated thundershowers in the region’s forested areas.

The agency reported another wildfire further north in the Colin-Crawford Lakes Wildland area, but crews quickly responded to that fire.

It also set the wildfire danger rating in the Fort McMurray Forest Area to High.

Residents planning on backcountry activities or camping trips should use designated stoves, rings, or fire pits.

Use sites clear of dry grass, bushes, leaves, twigs, tree trunks, peat moss, and overhanging branches when camping outside a campground.

Alberta Wildfire recommends campers use previously used sites and have enough water to extinguish a fire.

To report a wildfire, call 310-FIRE.
