The province reported five new cases of COVID-19 in the RMWB in the last 24 hours.
Active cases in Fort McMurray increased by two, while there were three active cases and one recovery outside the urban service area.
Fort McMurray now has 20 active cases and 31 recoveries of COVID-19.
In the region’s rural areas, there are eight active cases and 14 recovered cases.

Across Alberta, there were 41 new cases and no deaths from COVID-19 to bring the total to 8108.
There are 547 active cases of COVID-19, 154 deaths, and 7407 recovered cases.
53 Albertans recovered from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.
Hospitalization remains low with 41 Albertans currently in hospitals with nine in intensive care.
Dr Deena Hinshaw, chief medical officer of health, discussed the increase on limits to outdoor gatherings from 100 to 200 people.
The change applies to outdoor events like performances, festivals, fireworks displays and sporting events.

Hinshaw says they committed to looking at the numbers two weeks after stage 2. What she’s seen is that the majority of transmission has been in social settings, most often indoors. Not as much in structured, outdoor events.

Seated outdoor events will require the necessary space between families and cohort groups.
Indoor gathering and seated events remain at prescribed limits.
