The Keyano Huskies men’s volleyball team won’t travel far for next year’s provincial tournament.

The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference announced Keyano College will host the 2021 ACAC Men’s Volleyball Championship.

Director of Athletics, Sport and Student Wellness, Jonathan Lambert said he’s excited about the prospect.

“Events like this not only positively impact sport in our region, but showcase our community and facilities.”

From February 25-27, 2021 the College will play host to Alberta’s eight best collegiate men’s volleyball teams.

In 2018-19, the Keyano Huskies men’s volleyball team won its first ACAC Championship and ended the season ranked 4th in the nation.

They followed that performance with a second-place finish in the ACAC North Division with a 19-5 record in 2019-20.

Head coach Keegan Kuhr said they are grateful for the opportunity.

“The program has come a long way and the team deserves a chance to win a championship at home competing against the best teams in Alberta. We look forward to the hometown support to cheer us on.”

The Syncrude Sports and Wellness Centre will be the venue for all the games.

Keyano will also host the 2021 ACAC Futsal Championships from March 12-14.
