The province reported a total of 11 recovered cases of COVID-19 in the region.

That equals the single-day record for recoveries in the RMWB since the start of the pandemic.

Outside the urban service area, there were nine recovered cases.

Alberta also removed another active COVID-19 case from Wood Buffalo’s rural areas from its count.

There are five active cases and 34 recoveries among the region’s rural communities.

Fort McMurray picked up two recovered cases while recording a new single case of the illness for totals of one active and 56 resolved cases.

Alberta said across the province, there are 86 new cases and two additional deaths of COVID-19.

The province linked one death to the outbreak at Misericordia Hospital in Edmonton.

Alberta has 701 active cases, 163 deaths, and 8048 recovered cases of COVID-19.

Dr Deena Hinshaw, chief medical officer of health, said the virus does not discriminate.

She said Albertans must remain vigilant.

Alberta identified only eight COVID-19 cases among thousands who attended the anti-racism rallies in Calgary and Edmonton.

Hinshaw said she remains concerned about the recent rise in new cases.

She added people may start to tune out public health messages such as using masks, handwashing and good hygiene, and physical distancing.

“It is natural to feel a bit of COVID-19 fatigue. If anyone is tired of following the public health guidance or feels that they are not at risk, please remember that your actions are protecting more than yourself.”

55 Albertans are now in hospital for an increase of 10 from yesterday, including 13 in intensive care.

Alberta completed 545,902 tests for COVID-19.
