Alberta reports no new cases or recoveries of COVID-19 in the RMWB in the last 24 hours.

Fort McMurray has one active case and 55 recovered cases, while two active and 37 resolved cases reside outside the urban service area.

Across the province, there are 120 new cases and two additional deaths linked to COVID-19.

Dr Deena Hinshaw, chief medical officer of health, said this is the first time Alberta registered more than 100 new cases since May 2, 2020.

Alberta has 807 active cases, 165 deaths, and 8142 recovered cases of the virus.

69 Albertans are in hospital receiving treatment, including eight in intensive care.

There are 53 total cases, both active and recovered cases, linked to Misericordia Hospital in Edmonton.

To date, seven people with ties to the hospital died of COVID-19.

Hinshaw also said the province updated its regional watch list.

Hinshaw announced Alberta will shift from ‘restricted access’ to ‘safe access’ approach for continuing care facilities starting July 23.

119 of 165 deaths from COVID-19 were residents of long-term care (LTC) facilities in Alberta.

Residents may increase the number of familial visitors and designated care providers, so long as they make arrangements with their LTC facility.

Hinshaw also said indoor exhibits and trade shows, and select outdoor events will be permitted.

All must still adhere to public health guidelines.

To date, Alberta health officials completed 560,493 tests.
