Ca$h Calendar raffle tickets in support of Girls Inc. of Northern Alberta are now on sale.
Tickets are $20 and will support the region’s only gender-specific programming.
By supporting the Ca$h Calendar you’ll help to ensure that programming remains free for participants ages 6 to 18.
The funding will also be used to accelerate Girls Inc.’s approach to keep offering virtual programming.
Among virtual participants, over 70 per cent have said they ‘feel empty’ in the absence of in-person interactions.
With help from the Government of Canada’s Emergency Community Support Fund and Wood Buffalo Community Foundation, Girls Inc. is pursuing the COVID-19 Safety and Recovery Project.
The project will enhance social inclusion and the well-being of 250 individuals, with a priority on those in greater isolation, often living in under-served, remote Indigenous communities.
Girls Inc. will deliver one-on-one supports through curbside visits as well as check-in phone calls and messaging to go along with current virtual programming.
Through the project, girls will increase their skills, knowledge and resources of navigating a crisis situation, improve their sense of connection and self-esteem, and strengthen readiness and adaptability to the new climate.
When you buy a ticket for the Ca$h Calendar you’ll be entered to win a specified amount of money every weekday throughout November, with the highest payout being $1000.
Half of the funds raised through the raffle will go towards the Fort McMurray Boys and Girls Club as they continue to rebuild following the flood.
“Learning about the impact that the flooding had on the FMBGC, I immediately proposed that we help each other. The FMBGC had offered their facility to run our programs in the past, and they are a key agent in our community who inspires and empowers ‘girls’.” said Nanase Tonda, Executive Director of Girls Inc. of Northern Alberta.
There have been 1000 tickets printed and will be on sale until they are sold out.
